Camping & Caravan Club V Caravan &Motorhome Club

No tents at CAMC. awnings only.
C&CC. Either awning or tent but I wouldn't think both unless just a Pup tent possibly. Pitch size/spacing would dictate what could be accommodated.
I know this thread is a bit old now but just read and it is pertinent to me now. We have been members of both clubs for years. Now decided to ditch Camping and Caravaning Club, stay with Caravan and Motorhome Club and try more CLs.
We have had a number of run-ins with over -zealous wardens and on reflection (plenty of time in lockdown) they were all on C&C sites. We found that one site had left a negative comment about us on “the system” but never said a word to us. Next site maybe 6 months later we were welcomed by a warden saying she expected us to be trouble and would we like to leave now? All about family size and tent size.
Also found C&CC stops negative reviews from appearing on their website.
C&MC on the other hand are just clear on their rules, never had any issues.
Please note that C&MotorhomeClub do allow tents if they are just for sleeping, storage or wc. In practice that means you can have a 2 or 3 man small tent as an ancillary to your camper. A few of their sites allow tent to be your main unit.

They didn't at the Mablethorpe site in 2014. My first proper run in with a warden. Apparently if they let me put up a 2 man pop up tent to keep the BBQ in, they would have to let everybody put tents up.

So cali, no awning & 2 man pop up tent not allowed.
The pitch opposite had a Twin axle caravan, a full length awning, awning extensions on both ends, a further canopy to the side of the awning & two range rovers, that apparently was within the rules.

I refused to put our tent away & it stayed there all weekend.

Isn’t Mablethorpe CCC rather than CMC?
CMC Site Rules say tent is allowed (with a few conditions).

Ive not had any problem on any of their other sites, if we don't need the full awning we use a little pop up tent to keep the BBQ bikes etc in & to use as a pitch marker. Takes seconds to put up & hours to get back in the bag.

Crazy inflexibility! Some discretion in applying rules is a good policy.

As ArunAlex said, the CMC handbook includes specific rules on ancillary tents. They are allowed.
Mablethorpe is a CCC site.

The Mablethorpe one we went to was a Caravan Club site.

Sutton-on-Sea Caravan and Motorhome Club Site

Campground in Sutton-on-Sea, England

Address: Crabtree Ln, Sutton on Sea, Mablethorpe LN12 2RS

Never had a problem with the CAMC. No minimum night stay, no deposit, no cancellation charges up to 72 hours, pick your own pitch, excellent toilet/shower blocks.
Varied sites, pick the ones that appeal to you. A lot of the sites we go on have lots of areas/glens with trees etc so quite private and not staring at lots of other vans etc.
BTW anyone looking to join can get a £10 voucher for them and me using the recommend a friend scheme. Message me for details.
Hi larrylamb. Looking to join the CAMC instead of paying but can’t seem to message you? If this is still possible are you able to message me? Cheers

Hi, Messages between forum members are only possible if both parties are VIP members ( one of the perks). I have had a look with CAMC and the recommend a friend scheme has changed, only the original member ie. me, gets a tenner voucher unfortunately.

Ah okay thanks for getting back to me, happy to get you a tenner but probably more trouble than it’s worth as I’m no longer vip

No problem. Just doing it know and it asks for member surname which may not be larrylamb? Is it Lamb?

People placing defamatory comments on a ‘system’ without you having access to them is an offence under Data Protection, contact the CCC and make a ‘subject access request’ they have to release anything with your details etc. by law. Outrageous.

Just to say this should have said ‘instead of paying for Britstops again’ - I wasn’t expecting to pay nothing to join CAMC! Have joined now and hope to get some use the next 12 months.

Just parked up on Cambridge, Cherry Hinton site.

Absolutely lovely. No traffic noise, clean facilities (just enjoyed a shower), good Mobile signal so was able to watch I-Player last night, dog walking just over the road, pub a few minutes away, easy access to centre of Cambridge, £20 a night.

It is great site, I am surprised that their facilities are open prior to the 17th, any details of the requirements/cleaning regime for such luxury?

They can open limited facilities because there are enough of them. Every other one closed to achieve distancing still leaves 3 open.

Standard wristband routine. Each time I went in I was the only one there. Covid influenced obviously but a trend I have noticed in the last few years of less and less using public facilities and relying more on own.
