they can keep the VAT ‘decrease’ but tbey cant call it 20% VAT that is misrepresentationRe CCC; during lockdown they (and other clubs) were understandably wanting business by way of future bookings, so introduced a flexible scheme so able to amend booking. Once sites were open again I contacted them to change a date of a booking with deposit paid (I made it clear I did not want a refund). They then said the T&C’s had changed so can’t change only option was to lose deposit. I did point out the T&C’s can’t be changed as we entered a contract on the original booking date. No joy whatsoever. The lady was all too ready to hit the cancel button, I managed to stop her and we went with the booking.
However I was charged the full 20% VAT, I wrote to them asking if I was due the VAT reduction (as per their website) this was July - no response from them to date!
The booking was for the Cheddar site, on arrival I was second of three ’vans. Instructions were to remain in vehicle and warden would come to you. However passenger in third vehicle went into the reception and was duly taken to the pitch ahead of others waiting. I pointed out the non-compliance with their own SOP, much apologising and was shown to the pitch - in fact I was given a choice of two. Groundsheet out for the awning and just about to peg out the awning and pump it up, when the lady returned saying she had given me the wrong pitch, no other option but to move “please“. Reluctantly agreed was was given a pitch I could not level the van, even on the top of the levellers.
With regards Covid secure practice; it became clear as the week went on “newbie campers” had little regard for etiquette and it became clear there were multiple family / friends bookings, with resultant gatherings. We would have left early if this had not been our last night.
Have not used a CCC since.
