Campsites within an hour of Nice - any recommendations?

Evening all. We're looking into a trip to Nice and/or surroundings in mid-october. We have a friend who has just moved to Nice so we'd like to be within an hour of the city so we can meet up with her.

I wondered if any of you wise lot had any recommendations for a site? We're four 30 somethings, who enjoy cheese, wine and don't mind easy bike rides to local towns etc.

Have you considered the Municipal sites found in many small towns and villages. Cheap with good basic facilities and often close to the centre and local shops and bars.

Do note that in oktober lots of those municipals are closed .
