Can you charge iPhones etc from USB without ignition on?

Here's how I solved this one:


Just replaced the 12v socket with some USB-A and USB-C charger. I never used the 12v socket and have nothing to plug into it, yet I found myself charging my phone off the inverter socket every day. Problem solved and it even has an on/off switch to make sure it doesn't use any energy when off.

Careful, it's not exactly that one, as that doesn't have the voltmeter and instead has what seems to be an LED ring and lit-up ports, which I figured would be brighter and less useful than the voltmeter.
