Cars I’ve Owned

Wow! Some really impressive lists there. I think I started this all off in the supermarket fuel thread, here's my very short list reposted here:
B reg Ford Orion petrol - 1992
G reg Peugeot 309 diesel - 1993
V reg Peugeot 406 diesel - 2004
63 reg Peugeot 5008 diesel - 2014
17 reg VW California diesel - 2017

The Mark 1 was a real motor (mine was a black 1600GT with no bumpers - not a gentleman's car). The Mark 2 was a 'hairdresser's coupe', except for the JPS version. Not sure what to say about the Mark 3 but the 3-litre V6 always looked the business when Bodie drove one sideways everywhere in The Professionals.
I still smoke JPS due to that and F1. My dad had a red mk1, I thought it was Starskey and Hutches. That 3lt Essex was in lots, my Scimitar and I believe Transits to, one day I might get a 2.8 Brookland, cheers.

What kicked it off for me was my uncles Avenger Tiger and Holbay Hunter. Drove em like he’d knicked em. All very inspirational for a 5 yr old.

just think how much we would be worth if we had kept all the classics that we have owned

Ive kept it the ones where my name was on the logbook otherwise the list gets a bit long so have left off company cars.

I think a grey Vauxhall Chevette estate was a particularly low point in my motoring history.

The high points are my first stag back in the mid 80s, a Discovery series 2 metropolis, the cali obviously & the new lotus elise that I've just bought for a bit of 2 seater fun again.

The quirkiest has to be the Scimitar 1800Tii - 1.8 litre turbo lump out of a nissan in a plastic 2 seater. Used to frighten Sierra Cosworths but the metro brakes couldn't cope which made stopping interesting.

Some stuck around for a long time - 1968 MG midget I had for 10 years, the Mazda 5 I've had 8 years so far, Cali for 4. Most however don't stay for long but do high miles - the most I've done is nearly 60K in a year.

After 5 911’s how can you even look at another car?

Yes, if there was space in my garage a 2.8 Brooklands would be on my list...getting quite rare now..

Dolly Sprint. Respec!

Had two, a red one and a green one, lovely machines. The green one collected a bit of body modification after it decided to demonstrate just what a lousy suspension the dolomite had by pirouetting into a bollard, bless it.

Oh I also forgot to mention a green Jaguar sovereign or whatever it was called. If I wore a fur coat I could have been taken for Del-boy's Mum :sad

A 911 in good nick is a fine piece of engineering and a lovely thing to drive but I do high miles & the maintenance costs can be eye watering. I also find them so good at high speed that stupid speeds tend to become the norm.

I had a new turbo S on loan for a month or so & there was a choice of 6 gears that it could exceed 100mph in. Great for the autobahn not so good on the m25, to put it into cali context that car would do 0-120 and back to 0 in the time even a 204bhp cali would get to 60.

To not be able to drive it fast was like being given a camper & being told you can't camp in it!

For a bit of fun I've currently got the latest Lotus Elise, 220bhp in something that weighs less than a full portapotty. Performance now its run in is phenomenal, but more interesting is other peoples reaction to it, people stop & wave you out, you can't fill up without people asking about it & Its just fun to drive.

Three Metro Turbos

Okay I had one (British Forces tax-free buy), but THREE???

However I would say they were rather misunderstood and I remember mine could be a lot of fun, especially its tendency to lift a front wheel off the road in an uphill corner. Provided you'd remembered to dial in some turbo about half a mile previously and then kept it chattering away.

Pity the poor sod who got it after I'd finished with it.

970S? Serious kit! Actually I thought I had a problem with 5 cyl German stuff but your A series issues are much more deep routed!
