Comfort Insurance - Take CARE

A very timely thread as I look for insurance.

Funnily enough I had filled in a quote on the comfort site, and was quite impressed with the quote.

They actually called me an hour or so later, to see if I was happy with the quote. I quizzed them on the leaving car unattended, and they seemed to imply, that if you are leaving it for a "long period", then you would have to inform them before hand. didn't mention a charge.

It probably wouldn't affect me much, but it would be a pain when it did.

Hi Syrup,

I have called the chap Rob below (not sure if I have used the quote thing correctly). He is ringing around for me at the moment. The biggest problem for me is using it for work, so that idea might become abandoned. Anyway, perhaps worth you giving him a call?

I've just had a quote from Rob + Advance Insurance.

After having a few quotes recently his acurracy, comunication, level of cover and competitive quote gave me alot more confidence that I will indeed be properly covered.

I would highly recommend anyone looking for a quote to email this guy.

A-Plan were also very good to deal with. :thumb

I used to use a-plan for my commercials ,but switched afew years back ..
Comfort have been very professional for me and good cover at a good price ..

Be aware of Adrian flux and others that they put their name under

Comfort have now changed the 36 hours unattended to 48 hours, just for info.

LV (who I usually sing the praises of) did something similar recently, Ive always had european cover but this year it was quietly removed from the text without a word.

Luckily I spotted this before my trip and they added it back in free of charge (I guess it was a mistake), however that could have bitten me on the rear if I had got caught out over there.

David, that was my take on the Comfort policy. I guess you would have to inform them if you were going to leave the van for a few days. For instance walking a high Alpine route whilst on holiday.
that's what I was thinking. go out walking for a couple of days taking a tent. are you not covered?

If you don’t inform them - Not Covered.

If you inform them - Maybe.

I renewed today and problem I have with this is that they don’t or won’t publish In advance the criteria that the insurance would or would not be valid, you have to ring them to ask every time and sometimes it may have to be referred to the underwriter.

In effect you are buying something without knowing exactly what you are buying.

They did state however that ‘meet & greet’ airport car parks would not be covered, which is understandable.
