Coolant Heater With Telestart Operation

When you use the remote control to turn on the coolant heater in either heating (defrost) or ventilation mode it runs for a preset time - say 30 mins.

If you start the van up and drive away before the 30 mins is up do you turn it off with the blipper or do you just leave it run?

On my beach when you start the engine the heater switches to continuous mode, you can then either switch it off using the vehicle control panel, or when you switch off the engine it will stay on for 10 mins, and then auto shut down.

Ok - sounds ok.

I read on an audi forum from somebody who'd lived in a cold country that it's best to turn the heater off before starting the engine as the current draw from starting the engine can trip the heater and cause the flame detector to soot up.

I haven't been able to find any similar advice on the webasto website or in the VW Cali handbook so guess it's not a problem - but wanted to make sure.
