Just in case anyone comes to this thread in the future looking for suggestions on a dash cam / dashcam, I massively recommend avoiding Pioneer at all costs.
Mine was recommended by the company fitting the tracker when I bought the Cali in 2024. I went for the priciest one, a VREC-Z710SH with front and rear cameras.
The dashcam is very user unfriendly, trying to view recordings on the app is as easy as doing a rubik's cube blindfold, but I consoled myself with the thought that at least it would be useful in an accident or if someone drove into the car.
Yesterday I watched in disbelief from about 50yds away as someone reversed into the van, and I had to chase them down just to get them to stop and give me their details.
The stupid bar-steward thing didn't record the blasted bump. This is despite it recording every time I put shopping in the boot or open the door.
The instructions offer unhelpful advice in the troubleshooting thus:
"-The product makes parking mode files when you get in and out of the vehicle
Cause = The vibration when people get in and out of the vehicle and the movement of people are being detected.
Action = Adjust the sensitivity of the sensors to use for detection.
-There are many videos where nothing happens in the files recorded while parked
Cause = The sensitivity of impact detection may not be appropriate.
Action = Adjust the sensitivity of the sensors to use for detection."
-My vehicle was hit while parked but the video file wasn't recorded
Cause = The sensitivity of impact detection may not be appropriate.
Action = Adjust the sensitivity of the sensors to use for detection."
Adjust the sensitivity to what? There's no in between.
I'm so annoyed. There's only minor scratches by the looks, but I need to get the parking and radar sensors checked as the sound was a fair old whack.
I recommend you choose anything other than a Pioneer dash cam.
