Deposit paid. Advice for family of 4 needed.

Hi All,

Pick up our Cali on 1st Sept. 63 plate 180, SE with only 1000 miles on the clock. We're all unbearably excited! It doesn't have any extras included and I'm hoping to get some advice on what we're likely to need and what we won't. Just to complete the picture we are a family of 4 with 2 young boys (6 & 4 yrs) and we're hoping to get out for as many adventures as possible - weekends and trips of a couple of weeks at a time and over as long a season as we feel is achievable.
We know we need.......

A bike rack (probably VW)
A mattress topper for the downstairs bed where we will sleep (?comfortz)
Probably an awning for longer trips in the UK over colder months - primarily for storage and eating etc(?inflatable)
Seat protectors (don't want to be too precious about the boys clambering over the seats etc)

Not sure about the following.....

A roof cover - don't want to risk the boys getting wet if they're sleeping up there and they touch the canvas

Carpet floor protection - once again so we don't get too precious about muddy feet!

Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Incidentally we're currently camping in a tent in st Ives in pouring rain with literally a river flowing over our non-integral groundsheet!!! Bring on the Cali.....

Good times ahead , seems you have welinformed yourself ...suppose reading the forum about the xtras.
Think you named the essentials : matrass toppers , seatcovers , carpets ( rubber in front!) and a roof cover .
Start with those they wil empty your wallet in an instant , you can upgrade on more xtras later bit by bit....

Hi all, sorry to here about the rain, but at least you are in the best part of the world. Sounds like you got yourself a cracking van. Khyam Sleeper Drive Away Awning a very good choice, easy to put up, a couple of minuets. The rest of the kit you need Nick at Comfortz can supply. Congratulations....had ours for a few months and loving it....we have used our roof cover (Comfortz) a lot....recommended not only to provide some rain protection but when cooler keeps things cosy ! Others will have views on seat covers....we went for Jackyards....love them to add a personal touch etc. also hard wearing !



Bike rack, various opinions we have the VW rack....looks the part but more importantly we find it works really well....We just bought the extra mattress topper for the downstairs bed as the standard mattress is not that good (as we discovered when we hired a Cali pre purchase !)

Hello Ollie Masters and welcome!

We own our Cali (130hp, 2005) for a couple of months too and used alot:
- Seat Covers (Brandup)
- cheap carpet for the passenger room/floor covers
- roof rain cover (calicap)
- original awening
- bike rack (towing one)

i think thats it all and of course all the gimmicks around filling up water&elect power...
