Detachable Tow Bar storage

I've had a detachable tow bar fitted but the towbar itself came in a black plastic bag. Should there be a storage box or moulded foam thing for it? It's a bit heavy to just have loose.

It goes in the plastic box behind the rear seat that already contains the jack; there is a spot there specifically for it, and the key.
