Dimensions & Details Please!

64L work great but can be rather heavy when fully loaded. I have this page on my bookmarks;
http://www.reallyusefulproducts.co.uk/uk/html/boxdetails.php
I am underwhelmed by the idea of using really useful boxes in my van when it arrives.

To explain why, I will use the 64L box as an example:
External and internal dimensions and capacity - 710 x 440 x 310 = 97L; 605 x 370 x 280 = 63L

In other words, about 64 litres of capacity takes up nearly 100 litres of space.

Compare that with the tardisesque 80L Skubb laundry bag which takes up a mere 78.65L (220mm x 550mm x 650mm) of space:

I can see that, and we haven't used them before, but the ability to see what's in each box and pick things out easily more than makes up for it in my mind. But I can see the irritation in losing hard-paid-for space!

Got a mix and match of the RU and Skubb boxes in my Cali. Works a treat.

Hi JW,

Did you ever find out exact dimensions under the rear shelf (in normal driving conditions)? I've tried many, many searches, and have learned tons from reading really interesting but not directly related threads, but I still don't know how much space is available with the shelf on the lower setting!

Such simple things when you have the van, a PITA when you don't!
Ok, well I'm not sure this will be definitive enough for you but lets try!

The best I could get from members experience is summarised as: 98cm wide x 35cm high x 100cm deep. This is very close to Loz's pics above.

I went to a dealer and measured the following (but forgot the depth!!) 101.6cm wide (-7.6 at the top for the shelf latch on each side) x 34.3cm high (- 4cm on each side also for the shelf latch). So good correlation on these dimensions.

I am a little sceptical about the 100cm deep because the tool kit fits to the back of the sliding seat plus you need to consider the rake angle of the back seat squab. I know someone who uses a storage box that is 71cm long without trouble and confirms Loz's figure.

I shall be using a mixture of IKEA and RUB's plus a couple of Campervan related items just to bring in some colour and practicality in my set up. I shall post photos when finalised.

Hope this is helpful for you

Agree about the potential weight why not 2 x 33 litres. They fit on top of each other and are a combined height of 33cm.

Thanks for all the info!

I did think about the flatter ones but would rather have two c.35 x 44 x 31 (i.e.; half volume but tall rather than flat) as I can see the flat ones being more unwieldy, especially if they're being shlepped around to the cab for foraging.

They do a 35L which is 48 x 39 x 31(h) but that is (in theory) too big to have two back to back while still being able to shut the tailgate.

The head scratching continues....

Yep that was my final choice for under the shelf with Skubb boxes above.

Pretty much where I will end up.:)

I normally tow my bicycle :shocked

None of this bike-rack stuff. Eurotunnel charge extra!
Hi Granny.
When I look at booking my ferries I get bike confusion. I am asked how long is your camper then do you have a bike rack. If I put bikes in the van for the crossing can I say I don't have a carrier even though I do but it is closed up?

I would suspect a rack is a rack, closed or otherwise.

I'm not sure about Eurotunnel whether they charge extra or not. Apart from the height, over 1.85m, they do not seem to penalise anything else.

I have one RUB box that is 19L, its not full either.

Think you lot pack too much stuff ;)

..message ends..

Hi, A bit of a longshot.....but dont suppose you recall the sizing of those boxes do you?
you can use various combinations of euro containers. Currently I have;
2 x grey 600x400x150
2 x blue 400x300x300
4 x yellow 400x300x150
IMG_4363.jpg IMG_4364.jpg
Initially I had a single grey 6x4x3 but you fill it up and its too heavy to carry and you are always rummaging for bits so I put in 2 half height ones with spares and tools in the bottom and the rest of the bits like hookup jump start etc in the top.
down the side of the yellow containers I keep my large torque wrench and the awning winder.

Is that Canadian or English beer? ;)

Thanks for the bike info! Too bad it's too small.
If you rent a California Beach you can fit the bike in the boot with one wheel off - or my large mountain bike fits in the space between front and rear bench seat with both wheels on.

Loz, would you mind telling me which sliding tray you have please?

Calicap have one for €539 [https://shop.vwcamper.de/heckauszuege/264/calidrawer-ocean-heckauszug] whereas Calitop have one for €390 [https://calitop.eu/product_info.php?info=p102_calispace-ocean-80.html].

CamperX also have one for CHF579 [£645] http://www.camperx.ch/produkt/t5-heckauszug/

California Camping for £502.55 https://www.california-camping.de/n...5-und-t6-california-beach-mit-dreierbank.html

Calicap looks like a more "complete" unit. You need to buy the mdf board for the one at Calitop
Cheers

What are your thoughts on it? Build, durability, strength, ease of fitment
Thanks

Its very well made, easy to take in and out although I have only taken it out once.
We have it loaded all the time and it is the most useful thing we have purchased.
2nd this. sure you would get good % back if I sold the van and did not need it.

Calidrawer Ocean Heckauszug 800mm bought among a host of other expensive goodies from Calicap:)

I'm having a nightmare finding your 2 x blue 400x300x300 boxes for anything other than extortionate prices Loz

You have this configuration:
4 x yellow 400x300x150
2 x grey 600x400x150
2 x blue 400x300x300

Your 4 x yellow 14L [L400mm x W300mm x H150mm] are here for £9.36
https://www.kaiserkraft.co.uk/stora...VXzqYzRh8zEH5OnF_K3_DkzW834KMc-waAigyEALw_wcB

Your 2 x grey 27L [L600mm x W400mm x H150mm] are here for £12.95
https://www.shelvingdirect.co.uk/eu...UipWRsggiFVZ5WqJq8O4vQIsLrDUOVrxoCWOIQAvD_BwE

I can find 2 x blue 25L [L400mm x W300mm x H300mm] here for £16.74. But they don't seem to be "Euro Boxes" per se, just a "transport box"
https://www.gigant.co.uk/products/s...-boxes-and-bins/info/transport-box-of-pp-blue

I don't suppose you know where yours came from?
Thanks

EDIT: 30/01/19.
BigDug have stopped supplying the 4 x yellow 14L [L400mm x W300mm x H150mm]

I looked at Bigdug but can only find 295h with a lid [BNB4328LG] and 290h [BNB4328B] without
Similarly, there's nothing with a 150h, 12hh or 180h being the nearest
