Hi everyone
I’ve learned a lot from this forum and I just had to share a fantastic discovery that I have made with everyone!
I purchased a cheap LED light strip and remote with 12v controller after feeling inspired to have a go myself after watching the YouTube video…
So I got armed with heat sharing tubing, electrical tape and heat-solder connectors and got cracking.
The idea being to steal the 12v feed from the rear light and put it through as it’s been done several times before.
However expecting to find two wires positive a negative I found three then it dawned on me because it’s a 6.1 and the LEDs are dimmable that’s going to be a controller wire.
After an epic amount of faffing around with a multimeter trying to find a stable 12 V I could not get the RF control box to work the voltage range from 3 to 9 never much more under control clearly wouldn’t work.
On the verge of giving up I thought let’s just hardwire it for a second and see what happens.
Hey presto not only does it turn out that the LED light strip becomes fully dimmable along with the rear light you can even control it from the touchscreen at the front of the van and the light comes on and off with the boot light when you open the rear door I’m very pleased and happy to share some photos.
(I have a video of it dimming but don’t think video posts are supported?)

On full blast, the strip draws 1A according to the control panel, anything less barely registers. Here are pictures of full brightness and dimmed to illustrate my point
