New Cali with this unit fitted as an upgrade to the standard radio. Can't get the ipod sound to come through using either cable or bluetooth. Anyone else solved the problem?

When it's plugged in, is it reading the pod or has it read the pod and the music is playing but no sound?

If it is the latter, try taking the connecting lead out of the unit and plugging it back in again.

it is the latter. how do I get at the back of the unit?

thanks

Not that lead - just the front lead, as it is playing, try unplugging and replugging in.

IPhone5?

tried that - no joy. Ipod Classic, Ipod Shuffle, Iphone 4, Iphone 4S

none work. must be something simple.

:thanks

If the music is defo playing on your screen then logic dictates the most likely cause would be the connector lead?

Unless there is a prob with the headunit. What adaptor lead are you using?

If you are using the Kenwood lead try creating your own lead to test the the connections. I take it with the Kenwood lead there is still one that plugs into the pod and one an aux connector?

You could try creating your own lead using an Apple usb connector (or the one that fits in the phone) and a standard aux cable. Play the music and connect and disconnect the leads to test.

Using the proper Kenwood lead. Could be the connection at the head unit end. I have emailed the dealer. Thanks for you help.

That might be an idea - there should be a noise as it clicks, then on the screen it should say reading, the song/artwork should display and music play.

the 521 has a different placed location for the iPod/USB plug which is on the back of the unit where the headphone size jack is on the back as well (but the other side compared to the USB socket). The 520 kenwood has everything on the front of the unit for connection. Could be something as simple as the lead has come out as the unit has been fitted.

Cheers

The iPod should display the Kenwood icon when communicating with the head. If not, try the connection as above.

Also worth a reset (NOT ERASE!!!!) of the iPod. I am using an original Classic, so anything newer than this should work OK

My old unit was a little temperamental, but I've not had any problems with the DNX521DAB at all. Makes me think that it must be the lead....
