Does your cali pull to left when driving?

My T6 has never pulled to the left or right, not a Cali. But did have very uneven tyre wear. Took it to VW who re-did the tracking. No difference. Took back to VW who checked again and said all was ok and that the uneven wear was caused by roundabouts. Bo**ocks! Took to an independent tyre specialist who said the tracking was way out front and back. After realignment took back to VW and after much discussion had a refund of their service charges. Since then no tracking issues and tyre wear is even across all tyres.

This sort of thing is infuriating! VW being either incompetent or untrustworthy...

I had a golf that pulled to the left gently after the tyres were changed by VW. Took it back, they said there was nothing wrong with the tracking, but they rebalanced.the wheels, reluctantly, anyway. This fixed the problem.

Interesting that it always seems to be pulling to the Left.
If it was something to do with the tracking setup one would have thought there would also be cases of pulling to the right also.
On the Ocean the kitchen is also on the Left but there are cases on the T6 Forum in empty non-Californias with the same problem.

My Ocean LHD tends to pull to the Right, driving in Europe on the right hand side...
As you say, I also don't think it has to do with the tracking set up, but certainly in my case , also not to do with the kitchen.
It is true that the Ocean has a kitchen on the left , and also both LBs, water tank and gas bottle. On the other hand the heavy rear bench, the parcel shelf, Diesel heater, the content of the bench drawer and the luggage above and below the parcel shelf would balance the weight towards the right.
Unlikely that VW would sell a highly Left-Right unbalanced vehicle..

They did for a long time. Look up “Westy Lean”.
All the reasons above plus LHD so driver weight as well.

No adjustment for Caster unless eccentric bushes fitted.

Do you know much about caster, like what the numbers should be, or how important it is. I had a wheel alignment done and was told caster was out slightly but they couldn’t fix it

Caster and camber can only be adjusted by having adjustable suspension bushes fitted. Eccentric bushes as is used to adjust rear axle alignment.
If they gave you a pritout of your tracking you'll see that left and right figures are diffent.

I thought this, but mine now doesn't do it. Its now a joy to drive. Had all the bushes replaced for Powerflex with adjustable on all except the front camber. Tyre wear is now chalk and cheese on the CC tyres compared to the previous Bridgestone A005

My BMW doesn't do this but its new.

My Volvo is a nightmare some of the time but becoming worse. I have some Powerflex rear arm bushes to install. (Hopefully tomorrow if its dry)

Thanks for the reply B J G, can’t say I know much about this stuff with tracking but I am reading up on it (slightly getting it) is it much of an issue if caster is out? I don’t understand why it was out to start with, or why they wouldn’t make it adjustable from the factory

More caster = better turn-in so more positive cornering.

Caster also add a jacking effect on the outside wheel and a lowering effect on the inside. (exaggerated by wheel offset). This then alters the rear loading and affects steering.
