On long journeys I am used to taking a "power nap" when tired - I am the sole driver. With the caravan I just used to pop in the van, no problem. In the Cali, can we leave the downstairs bed in the sleeping position while travelling, to make it easier to take a quick nap?

No reason why not.

I have done this - no trouble!

did it for a while when it stuck down and we were in Scotland

You don't really need to leave it down though it takes about 30 seconds to move it from seat to bed
