Draining board for gas rings in new Califormia

We pick up new Cali on 10 March ( lucky us) and unlike our 2003 Cali this one does not have a drop down drawing board to protect the gas rings when using the sink etc.
We are looking for something to put in place instead . Has any one any ideas please?

I saw on one of the German forums, I think, someone had made a drainer to go over the hobs out of stainless steel. It had a slight v in the middle to channel water into the sink.
Often thought about having a go at making one but never got round to it.
