I think it lasted quite well for the mileage.

If that part had been greased from the factory it would have lasted a lot lot longer. Some peoples seem to have gone at a lot lower mileage. 125k miles for component like this to fail on a laughingly called "premium brand" is pathetic. On some commercially used T5s thats only a couple of years.

What you need is the cv joints to fail more often. Then the drive shaft splines would get lubed.

Well finally had DMF and clutch replaced by a local garage, the parts are manufactured by LUK, who also make them for VW.
