IMG_1952.jpg My new Cali arrived less than eleven weeks from the initial order. This was a big surprise as I had been told it would more likely take to February or March before delivery. It's a 150ps manual with sensors and rear view camera. Other extras include lights and vision, ACC, 2 X USB and larger screen. I've travelled less than 200 miles in it but many of these have been on small Lake District roads and the performance and handling both seem very good to me.
At present most of my time has been spent exploring possible purchases to be ready for an inaugural night away from home as a test. Very pleased with my purchase and looking forward to extended trips abroad. Retirement has its priveledges.

What a gorgeous looking vehicle. I have been waiting seven months so far.
I'm waiting, put deposit down on 29/09/2016, was told March/April, phoned a few times to see if this is still correct but they don't seem to want to commit to delivery date. When is your delivery date?

Let's hope it's march eh? April would prove a lot more expensive. :(

Great stuff , let the fun begin...?

Also welcome @Californicate on he's first posts....:thumb

l importatore ha fatturato il Cali al concessionario ...dovrebbe essere in negozio tra due settimane....ho ordinato il Cali a fine Settembre.. era gia' in ordine dal concessionario da Giugno..speriamo bene....
salutoni

That's nuts! Who was it with? After reading everybody's experiences I don't think has anything to do with spec
I want to know more about Pazoozalator's retirement plans with his camper, and not discuss my woeful tale of delays.

Fine, but it seemed to be more a thread about delivery times rather than retirement plans.. I'd rather hear about retirement plans too ( v close to my heart :) ) and I'm thinking maybe if you quoted other people's experiences to your dealer you may get him to offer some sort of solution?

Nice pic :thumb. The same colour I have ordered. Only outward difference is I ordered Cascaval (Black) wheels. :):)

Snap Jabberwocky! We went for the chrome kit though as well. I'm thinking about side bars now...silver or black?

Excellent. We may go for the other stuff after delivery - Budgets do have to be considered I have been told!!;)

I hadn't intended this to be a thread about delivery times but did feel it warranted a mention as I had been so lucky. I hope to spend time initially on short trips, either to the West coast of Scotland or possibly even closer to home just to get a feel for how things work. This is my first campervan. Next year I will spend time travelling around France and possibly Spain following the sun and trying to find good paragliding sites. Sounds idyllic, we shall see.

I love the west coast of Scotland. Between Easter and the May bank holiday is probably the best time. Fewer midges, and long days. Plockton is a little gem, as are the Inverewe Gardens of Poolewe. Then there are the Hebrides, I've had the privilege to sail through the Kyle of Lochalsh before the bridge was built, escorted by a pod of dolphins.

Hello,I wish you failure-free-exploitation. I'm retired and would like to do the same. I'm going to order my Cali to the end of November this year. I need help in several areas. To explore California need to take your studies.
I'm curious how much time it took you check out all the options ?

To be honest I found making a final decision very difficult. I filled in the configurator on the VW site many times and ended up with a different result each time. In the end I went through the list with the dealer, Guy from Preston, and he explained what the various options were. I'm glad I did it this way as his advice was invaluable. For example he asked if I wanted a reversing camera and when I answered positively he recommended the larger screen to give a better view. His advice on the ACC and multi function steering wheel was also appreciated. He obviously understands the vehicle well and it became a much easier process to choose what to order with the benefit of his knowledge.

Silver to match your chrome pack or black to match your awning........decisions, decisions.......
For me I would go for Black - match your Cascavals too :thumb:thumb

Precisely my problem!! Think I'm going to live with her for a week or so before making a decision. She must be into her second build week so hopefully it won't be too long now.

Snap . We have a v similar spec , same colour . Ordered at end of September and been told ours is on the boat ! Arriving next week . Must be something luck about that colour blue !
