Hi all. I know this has bewn discussed previously but I have the problem of the roof rising a bit then stopping. I've got to the point where I can see the reservoir and there seems to be a fair bit of fluid in there, but can't quite see if there is enough. This is a stupid question, but where do you put the fluid in to top it up? There appears to be 2 screws on the top of the pump 'box' and I don't want to be undoing the wrong thing and spraying oil everywhere.
We live in the Charente Maritime in France and finding someone here to take a look is a nightmare.
Even the VW dealers won't deal with it!
Any help would be very gratefully received.

Hi all. I know this has bewn discussed previously but I have the problem of the roof rising a bit then stopping.
For clarity, my electric roof rises, has an intermediate stop then rises to the full height. I get a message at the midpoint asking if there is overhead clearance. I assume you realise this happens and the roof is not progressing to fully open?
What is the year of manufacture of your van and which model?
I may not be able to help but it will inform those that can.

Yes, the roof normally does the same. This time, it's getting part-way and the roof stops but the pump is still running. The roof then stays there until I loosen the screw to let the fluid back to the reservoir.
It's a 2007 T5.
Thanks for the response. Much appreciated.

Any Control Panel Messages.?

Try this-

Check Control Panel Diagnostics.

Control Panel Off and wait 30 secs

Control Panel On

Press and Hold R lower button and then press Control Knob for 5 secs.

New Hidden Menu . Scroll to VW Diagnostics.

If there are any codes shown, take note and then Reset/Clear.

Return to Main Menu.

Switch Off Control Panel using L lower button. Wait 30 secs and Switch On.

Try Roof/Heater or Fridge

Hi WelshGas.
Thanks for the suggestion. The display shows no error, sadly.
I've found a garage who are prepared to look at it but I'm not holding out much hope to be honest. I'll let you know the outcome.
Thanks again for the suggestion.
All the best.

Roof hydraulic fluid goes in where I have highlighted the screw. You will need to remove the pump to get at this though.
I used a big syringe with a tube attached to the end. Covered the dash and seats with dust sheets in case of spillages. There is no set amount of hydraulic fluid that I know of that’s used. You just need to fill the reservoir enough so when the roof is down there is still room for the fluid without it spilling out. And obviously enough to lift the roof without running short.

This thread may be of use

Once the reservoir is accessed it may have level markings on as in this image.

Think the fluid is quite expensiveIMG_9931.jpeg
