Engine Electric cooling fan

Hi Guys,
My engine electric cooling fan runs straight from cold start up on my 2008 Cali SE 4motion (174) can anyone advise me if this is normal as my other vehicles electric cooling fans are temp controlled??........I presume if it should only run with a hot engine it could be a faulty temp switch.....if it is where is it located??
