After realising just how much mess a caeftiere or stove top espresso machine makes, I got the ESE pod version of the Handpresso Wild today - utterly brilliant and NO mess!

Very compact, well made and easy to use - maybe useful to some of you? You add an ESE pod (most coffee brands do them), some hot water and that's it!

I'm currently on my second Handpresso as I keep one at work, and have one in our 'vans' . Used them for several years, they are brill.

You can get the ESE coffee bags all over, but mainly from specialist coffee suppliers, or e-bay rather than the supermarkets.

Andy - I got it for £65 off Fleabay.

Pods can be bought for £14ish for 50. Its really good but I agree, it's a bit pricey!

I have three stove top machines, two cafetieres - I like my coffee! Seems wrong having instant coffee in a Cali!

We have a bean to cup machine at home and really miss a good espresso in the Cali and refuse to drink instant ! Do these manual pod machines keep the coffee hot by the time it gets to the cup as nothing worse than warm coffee?

Just to complicate matters a bit further, I can recommend the Bodum Travel Mug with Press. Just googled it and a price of £40 came up which seems a bit steep - we got ours ( cheaper) in the States last summer. Keeps your coffee hot for ages!

Cheers

It works like this:

Pump up the pressure by hand (like a bike pump)
Add hot water to the "bulb" bit.
Add an ESE pod (a bit like a tea bag)
Release the pressure - it forces the hot water through the coffee pod.

Drink!

I'd advise pre-warming the cup and possibly the water bulb but it seems fine to me.

It's also built like a tank and could easily be used as a handy defensive weapon!

i do my coffee the same way as are dutch mates do it .paper filter in plastic holder add coffee and hot water poor into a flask .ding dong .and ikea coffee is lush ;)

Starbucks Via - try it.....yes it's basically a sachet of coffee but it's pretty near the real thing and no mess whatsoever!

Available at Starbucks and most major supermarkets £2.99 for a pack of 7 also available in a small tin at £6.99 this should make 24 cups using the little spoon in the lid. Really handy.

Another coffee addict here ...

You can get coffee bags - Lyons do I think still make them but often difficult to find. Make a lovely cup also. Green, vacuum packed packet from larger supermarkets.

We tend to use a metal stove-top coffee machine. Great coffee. Simple design. Last for years (ie almost unbreakable).

The Starbucks sachets are also great.

I have had a Handpresso for last two years and if you love your expresso its hard to beat. I have tried all the instant versions but they really don't create a shot of coffee anywhere near as good as Handpresso.

I warm cup and bowl first as like my coffee hot and have tried a lot of pods, this is a top gadget and always surprises friends when we are camping with them :D

I'm having to use some decaff pods so I don't OD on caffeine! Love it!
