My Cali Ocean VW 3 year warranty is about to expire and I’m looking to extend. An all component cover extension for less than 10,000 miles and £100 excess is quoted at £758, named component cover same mileage and excess costs £560 (and an increased excess of £250 reduces premium to £500).
I wondered what other folk have done as premiums seem expensive and I don’t want to buy an ‘umbrella in the sunshine’. Thanks

Save the money .

I did take out this extended warranty for 1 year, after my 3 year warranty expired, but never renewed it as during that year I needed a replacement water pump and the cost was less that the excess.

What did you decide? Having the same debate. Seems quite steep, but so is a failed roof mech.......

Hi Wagonwheal, I’m thinking I’m going to take my chances. In order to cover items like roof mech, fridge, etc we would need to take the all components cover which at £758 is pricey. I can see a position where we don’t claim for the first couple of years, premiums will rise of course, and there is an excess to consider aswell when and if there is a claim. We’re going to leave it but best of luck with your decision too.

We picked up our Cali 2 weeks ago and took out the full 5 year extended option 3 + 2 or 80,000 miles at a cost of £394. Thought it was a good price and piece of mind.

It’s a bargain. Even if you know you are not keeping the Cali for 5 years, it will make resale to a private individual much easier as it’s fully transferable.

If you dig out older threads on this subject you'll see the jury is quite clear on the topic. If you can buy the 5 year one when 'new' do. If you didn't or are too late, put the money in a pot and hope it covers the bills. The one you've been offered is as good or bad as all the insurance backed ones you can buy anywhere... And that's not a recommendation!

Bit late now! Got ex-demo so did not have the option at the time. £394 vs £1516 for the 2 year is a bargain. Graham S, I think I may just wing it also.

Excellent value. We bought ours a year old and didn’t have the option. Unfortunately!
