Have a look here (click on Terms and Conditions for the wording). Page six has the cover details. I suspect further items may be excluded under the Confirmation of Cover you receive when signing the contract. I read DSPUK message as meaning the second list is the Wear and perishable items.

Ultimately, as the warranty depends on exclusions to define the extent of cover, they would need to prove that the item in question was specifically excluded from cover. A quick glance at the exclusions and I can’t see anything like the roof mechanism, fridge, diesel heater, water system or gas system. As such, I’d say they are covered. It’s a pretty poor show that no one at the dealer or VW can tell you this. If this was an insurance policy, those involved in the sale would need to be trained sufficiently to answer such questions. However, it doesn’t appear to be an insurance regulated product. You can, however, refer any issues to the Motor Ombudsman.
