Fans run once ignition is switched on

When I turn on the ignition without starting the engine both fans, cooling and aircon, come on and run at high speed. If I turn off the ignition they slow immediately and stop after a few seconds. The engine temperature is steady at 90 deg when driving, the coolant level is fine and there are no warning lights on the dash. It's a 2007 T5 2.5l engine. Any ideas? Is it ok to drive it? I'm about 200 kilometers from home. Thanks in advance.
