Fitting a dog gate?

I would like to fit a Dog-G8 across the sliding door of my T5 Ocean, it comes with sticky pads which don't want to stick to the side panels, so the company supplied screws. We are worried about screwing anything into the side panels and wondered what lay behind them! Has anyone done this or got any ideas please?

Why not use something like velcro

I would say velcro too.

Brandrup fly screens for the sliding door are fitted with velcro,
you could cut some short strips, removable too, although you
would need to remove the adhesive, but doable.
I wouldn't screw anything, forget about screwing.

There is nothing behind those trim panels and 1" long screws would work, but to be honest unless your dog is extremely elderly or overweight I can't see that guard being of any use. Certainly every dog we had would either hop up on the seat and jump over it or stick their nose into one of the gaps and lift it up off the fitting screws.
We have used a dog harness clipped to an anchor point in the sliding rail with a shortish leash that allowed the door to open keeping the dog inside or a longer leash allowing the dog to roam within 6' of the sliding door.

We have ten BabyDan playpen fence (including 2 gate) segments. We have used them to create a fairly secure garden area around the sliding door.

Thank you, I realise that the younger ones could jump over from the seat! I do have a coveva windbreak to go round the outside when camping but wanted something for when you just park up for a walk and want to sit in the van for a coffee and let the dogs have a bit of freedom in the van rather than being crated all the time - hope that makes sense!

I would need some heavy duty velcro - will investigate that option as well

Agree with WelshGas, we use the Anchor point with harness and lead attached. Depending on lead length you can dictate radius of dog movement.

The fixing depends if it’s there as a physical barrier or just visual.
We pull the lightweight fly screen over the opening on our GC and our cockapoo won’t go anywhere near it & makes no attempt to get out.

Is the barrier wide enough to be fixed with stickies to the inside face of the B and C pillars? If so stickies would be enough as a dog pushing against it shouldn’t be enough to push it past the pillars.

The anchor is an accessory bought from the forum shop. It fits into the rail, we have ours on the rail nearest the sliding door. It fits in beyond the point where the bench seat will move to when the bed is down so doesn’t affect that. It was a wee bit of a ‘faff’ to fit as instructions where not completely ‘idiot proof’ but with help from forum this idiot got it done, so I’ld say anyone could. We find it invaluable both when travelling ( keeping dog tethered) and just in general short stops keeping him close to van. If memory serves ( bought it 3yrs + ago) it was, like all accessories quite dear for what it is ….. but good !

depending on the side of the dog. Wouldn't a small dog find its way to freedom escaping from under the van? Underneath the van under the sliding door?

With four dogs it is impractical to secure them with leashes, the will tangle up. 'You could try to secure the gate you have on the left side to the sliding door latch catch, and on the right hand side with to the driver door handle with some rope. Using a carabiner or similar to quickly open it/close it

These are good for two dogs on the end of traditional lead, avoids the tangle; the in-laws have two lively spaniels so comes in handy:
