I have just installed one of these on my T6 2017 Ocean.

The wheel has never been used and after 18 months was rather dirty and mud/stones were trapped inside the carrier and wheel hub, so I decided to drop the carrier and clean the wheel first.

I was surprised how heavy the wheel was, and rather difficult to manipulate with a fixed tow bar on the van.

Tip - place a rubber mat or something suitable on the ground beneath the carrier end before you release it, else there is a risk that you will abrade the paint coating and it will subsequently rust.

The kit comes with instructions. I went for the kit with security bolt, as all that was fitted originally was a standard hex head bolt.

Buying the kit here was cheaper than ebay.

You retain the left hand bolt and replace the right hand bolt.

I certainly feel that the spare wheel is now more secure with the 'SecureSafe' fitted.

You can also leave a luggage strap through the wheel and throw the excess on top before lifting. It helps you pull the wheel out once you’ve dropped it.
