I own a Nov 2022 Ocean 6.1. I have a persistent problem of a frozen driver's door handle. I have to enter the van via the sliding door instead. Took to VW in Jan and they did something (not entirely sure what) and today at only -3 it is completely stuck again. My guess is that it's a post-recall vehicle (I think there was a recall last July for cables). Really frustrating. Anyone else with a new 6.1 got this issue.? It seems they can't fix it. Can anyone recommend any lubricant and if so where exactly to squirt it (eg in the exterior handle when it pulls out)? Thanks!

We have a MY22 Ocean, but haven’t had this recall, and it’s been in for a service etc. I’d ask you local dealer regard lube - you could easily select the wrong type that could make it worse (eg WD40 not great on locks).

Jumping on this thread for a 19 plate beach. The rear sliding door handle (manual non-soft close) is getting sticky and difficult to open. What sort of lubricant should we try? It’s not the bottom rollers as these were replaced last service.

Not the official advice, but I’d always try a powdered graphite lock lubricant first. This comes in a puffer bottle. The advantage is that as it’s dry, dirt/grit won’t stick to it, which accelerates wear in lock mechanisms.

Are there any recommendations for the sliding door?

I can hear the central locking system unlocking the sliding door as well.
At the same time, the door handle is spinning freely: it's simply not moving any mechanism.

This seems to happen most often in cold weather.
I then have to open the door from the inside – and it takes several pulls on the inside door handle.

I’ve just had this also. Found a fix on here with a link to the T6 Forum but can’t remember who provided it. The fix was to remove the door trim and spray oil (3in1 spray) into the lock mechanism/motor. Some mentioned drilling a hole to do this but my motor had gaps anyway. So far it has worked having spent all last winter getting really wound up with it not unlocking. Had to replace a few trim clips that broke in the process but a lot cheaper than replacing the whole lock. Wish I’d done it last year!

Seems i have the same issue with the passenger door.
1 weeks in the Alps, the door handle was like frozen. i don't know if it brokes something, now i can use it, but the door does not open. I need to open it from inside.

I had this problem before Christmas which turned into quite an expensive repair. It started it off as the bowden cable, which appears to be a known fault and some vans have been recalled by VW, unfortunately mine wasn't one of them, I then also needed the inner handle replaced as it had got bent whilst I tried to open it and I also needed the actual lock replaced so be careful when you try your doors on these cold mornings.

Always good to turn on the diesel air heater for 20 - 40 minutes on sub zero days using the remote, if you have this functionality, and if you can plan ahead ! It’s gets things warmed though nicely :)
