Hi everyone,

The fuel flap of my T5.1 is opening while driving. At first it was only at approx. 130km/h. Then VW was kind enough to bend the spring and it stayed closed for a few weeks. Now its opening again and won't stay closed even at lower speeds. So duct tape is the temporary solution right now because I wouldn't want to loose the flap and pay a gazillion for a new one and getting it spray painted. So hopefullly someone here knows how to bend the spring or maybe if it's possible to replace the spring myself.

@Azteccamper @Ch1pbutty thansk for the replies. Would be an easy and cheap solution. I like those kind!

Strange thing is I dont remember my Cali ever having had one of those and VW didn't mention it when I had them take a look at it. Will buy one. Thanks, appreciate it.

Odd your dealer didn't notice it was missing and do the job properly the first time. I'd be looking for another dealer. If they can't handle the easy stuff would you want to trust them with the more complex jobs

Our son knocked used to knock ours off with his swimming bag. Just put a dab of superglue on the metal before you push the replacement plastic tip back on.

Found the part quickly enough thanks to @Azteccamper mentioning the part number. Arrived today and with a bit of glue just to be sure (thannks @Ch1pbutty's tip) the thing is fixed again. Many thanks again to bot of you.
