Thank you. I’ve been gaining fantastic advice from this forum culminating in my order for a new Beach. I believe I have been able to whittle out the genuine ones from the others who are in the minority. Thanks again to the genuine ones who I will continue to appreciateAnother who deceives themselves into thinking that the good old days where you could slag new members and launch anonymous personal attacks were…the good old days. The “usual suspects,” as moderators have named them, are the ones responsible for professional stars like VWguru leaving and the forum’s future being boring. No one who has anything new to offer, especially those who are professionals, will put up with this arthritic BS.
But its a UK forum.Another who deceives themselves into thinking that the good old days where you could slag new members and launch anonymous personal attacks were…the good old days.
Your on the wrong track there.Thank you. I’ve been gaining fantastic advice from this forum culminating in my order for a new Beach. I believe I have been able to whittle out the genuine ones from the others who are in the minority. Thanks again to the genuine ones who I will continue to appreciate
You think it’s a UK forum…that’s revealing, cute and almost the definition of schadenfreude. But its a UK forum.
The UK, where banter is okay, take it lightly or take it on the chin.
Or realise that its only a forum after all and no-one is gonna order a hit on you.
Not really, calibboard is German this one is UK.You think it’s a UK forum…that’s revealing, cute and almost the definition of schadenfreude.

We can of course interact in any but I'm waiting for the
Spanish one....
Those of us who are language capable read caliboard. This forum is the largest worldwide English language forum, of which the UK is a right hand drive minority part, but does not equal the worldwide Spanish readership of furgovw.org. This English language forum serves the failed “Esperanto” international market, but remember that VW has factories in Mexico and Brazil, and that Mexico, not the U.S, is seen with serious misgivings as the economic “Colossus of the North” by most of Latin America. The UK right hand drive market is anecdotal in comparison. You of course would need to be fluent in Spanish or the use of Google translate in order to appreciate this.Where do you think the most up to date information about Spain, Southern France, Pyrenees, Portugal and Morocco is posted? My post about VW bike racks being illegal in Spain when folded without bikes was a contribution for English speakers who travel in Spain. The conversation has been going on at furgovw.org in Spain and Portugal for about 1 1/2 years. Fortunately most Spaniards and Portuguese are multilingual, something which as an outlier you know is not true of the UK, or perhaps more precisely, England. Not really, calibboard is German this one is UK.

Having passed the technical inspection twice 2 and 4 years ago with the rack on, I didn’t know about the rule change until I failed the inspection 2 weeks ago until I took the rack off. When my VW dealer told me many of their clients have been having the same problem, I did a search on the Spanish language forum and discovered the rule change went into effect in 2021. I posted it here the same day.Why did it take you a year and a half to alert us?
Welcome.I am new to the forum and I have just been told that my new Cali is now awaiting a ship in Germany, about 6 months earlier than expected. We are excited.
I did ask recently if anyone knows if you can fit a water tank under a 4motion Beach and all I got back was adverts from companies who sell tanks to fit a FWD. So I still don’t know. No feedback from members!
Is it advisable to pull off the underbody plastic protectors to install a skinny tank down the side?
My wife and I are not buying a Cali due to Covid. We built a campervan when we still at Uni in Sydney. It was a Nissan and we drove it all around Australia as the moved around for various jobs. We sold it when we were working in Kununurra as we had a baby by then and needed a car with an air-con. But I learned to drive in a 1970 Superbug and since that time have owned two 1960’s Beetles, a beautiful 1960 Karman Ghia, a New Beetle Turbo and still own a Passat.
The Nissan we converted as a camper was just opportunistic- we got it for the right price when we had very little money. So now, due to retire soon, it is no surprise that we wish to resume our campervan life, just this time in a VW Cali.
So this forum is important for us. We will be asking advice as we set up the Beach for travelling. I hope we get it - even if there is only a hard core of technical specialists who regularly contribute.
And, we are happy to report on our travels across the vast expanse of Australia.
Are you looking for a Tank to fit in the spare of the spare wheel?I am new to the forum and I have just been told that my new Cali is now awaiting a ship in Germany, about 6 months earlier than expected. We are excited.

I would like to leave the spare where it is. It is not uncommon to take two spares when travelling in the Australian outback. I have had two punctures within a few kms in our previous camper just out of Lake Argyle in the far north west. Are you looking for a Tank to fit in the spare of the spare wheel?
This would fit 4motion as well: https://tanksdirekt.de/de/68-liter-unterflurtank-fuer-reserveradmulde-am-vw-transporter-t5-t6
Hi WelshGas, I have just renewed my membership for another year, and would only say that I find the items on here to be really useful. I consider it to be great value for money, and although I don’t post often it’s nice to get feedback.Considering how many members the Forum has I note that it tends to be the predominantly the same relatively small group of Names offering advice, information etc on the many threads regarding technical/mechanical problems or information on planned trips etc.
The lack of feedback is also very annoying, especially on the technical/mechanical problems.
Is it a sign of the times? Who knows.

I don’t wish to be rude but I think you misunderstand how social media, forums etc work and are approached by others (especially the young). It’s actually considered ‘good form’ to not leave unnecessary comments and to be brief when leaving them. Etiquette implies that other people’s time is valuable so you shouldn’t waste it unless you have something genuinely useful to add.Considering how many members the Forum has I note that it tends to be the predominantly the same relatively small group of Names offering advice, information etc on the many threads regarding technical/mechanical problems or information on planned trips etc.

not sure what kind of travels you are planning, but, if you go so remote/wild that you need two spares and lots of water, wouldn't it be worth considering upgrading from the stock tires to something more up to the task like KO2s or similar , something more robust, more grip when not on the asphalt and with the ability to air down for grip without damaging the sidewalls? In that case a spare won't fit in the spare bay anyway, you'll need to carry the spares somewhere else like in a modified tailgate bike rack.I would like to leave the spare where it is. So your saying its "good form" not saying Thank You when information given by members answers the question or fixes the problem in case you are accused of wasting someone's valuable time , the person who " wasted their own time " to provide you with the information in the first case.I don’t wish to be rude but I think you misunderstand how social media, forums etc work and are approached by others (especially the young).
