Gooseneck Light Upstairs snapped off

My gooseneck light has always been a bit floppy. This weekend it snapped off at the base.
I recall a thread about a new unit being avaiable from Conrad but they have none in stock.
Has anyone tried repairing with epoxy resin?

It's an Osram CoPilot lamp... available from quite a few places.

Think I got mine from EBay when I did the LED conversion.

Alternatively, get rid of it all together and replace it with a flexible LED strip on the ledge... I've seen a couple of people do this.

Does anyone have any pictures of an LED strip light conversion? Whilst our fexilamp is still intact we are paranoid about breaking it. And it also messes with my head that the lamp is Halogen and not LED
