Just back from 2 weeks touring northern spain (will write that up another day) it was awesome our first european jaunt.

But a heads up on the N621 down to Potes in the Picos de Europa, it is being rebuilt... took us best part of and hour and a half to go 15km, multiple contraflows and rough roads.

Yes we took that road last week. Took a while but don't let that put anyone off Potes, lovely little town and La Viona is a great campsite. We took the other road out up into the mountains towards Riano when we left. Absolutely stunning scenery

Agreed, Potes is very picturesque. We didnt stay at the campsites, opted for the paid aire on the way out of town to Fuente de, bargain imho. Stayed there 2 nights.

The N621 on to Riano was a very exciting drive as the cloud was down as we went up over the pass, but a simply stunning lake down a the bottom. Took this with our Canon R10 and ultra wide angle in panorama mode (bit of a voyage of discovery as we only just got it to record our retirement travels and are learning to use it.)

Nice, I think we were on the other side of that bridge

These roadworks remain but really they only seem to cause maybe a 20 minute delay. Obviously some depends on luck but it wouldn't put me off visiting Potes unless I had been planning to run down to the coast.

They were there last October. But the drive was well worth the wait. One of the most stunning roads I’ve driven in the world. Much better than Stelvio pass to my mind.
