Heating cost

had forgotten about the remote ..... left it in the glove compartment on pick up a couple of years back being overwhelmed by the hour long hand over information ... only just now coming out the other side to a comfortable familiarity with (most) of the tech stuff.... I will immediately retrieve it and see if it will reach from house to parking spot....

It was well below freezing with a heavy frost here last night. My Granny was complaining bitterly about how cold it was and fogging the window glass with her breath.... Do you think I should let her in?

Best features, heater and the heated seats, just a shame the rear seat doesn't have it. I would have liked my settee to have these features. The previous owner of my house thought open plan was a good idea but give me the cosyness of the Cali any day.

Unfortunately our heater doesn't work without a hook-up.

I understand from other posts that this is because of a problem with the earth shunt. I 'could' fix this myself - ie it is apparently possible to fix it, and the instructions have been provided - but it's not straightforward and I could do a lot of damage!

Or I could get it fixed - again, suggestion of repair place provided - but that's apparently likely to cost £300.

£300 would cover a lot of hook-up additional charges, so we haven't got it fixed. But it would be nice to be warm in the van, and a hook-up is not always available.

Any thoughts? eg Do it! or Don't do it! or Get on with the repair & don't be feeble! or Don't be such a miser, get it fixed! or 'bloody VW selling stuff that doesn't work properly!' etc

Get it fixed or DIY but either way it is worth its weight in gold.

Yes I know you're right. We have managed without it for nearly five years though! We get a hook-up where necessary and have warm sleeping bags otherwise.

Just bite the bullet & get it done - it's only half a van without a heater.

You'll soon forget about the cost to fix it but if it stays broken you'll be irritated by it forever.

It was probably a Paid For option back then.

@johntowers46 is correct. Remote included in 2007, according to this 2007 Brochure.

Sorry I have jumped in the deep end and bought a T6. When looking at early T5's I was impressed how clean most were and the prices asked were rarely less than £25 K.
