Did everyone know there's a problem with the lens reflector on the high level brake light falling out on certain models.
Found mine missing the other day 14 plate 4motion, so phone breeze vw in Southampton to order a new one, and they told me that it can be replaced under warranty as there's a problem with them falling out!!!! Anyone else had this problem?

Oh yes. You're not alone.

Wish vw in Southampton told me when it was in a couple of months ago getting siding door fixed as that broke! My 2008 Cali seems to of been built better than my year and bit one!
Also noticed my pop too roof drops down a tiny bit when it's been left open for long periods! Has anyone else had this problem?

Popped mine to breeze in poole today for something else and they took the opportunity to change the brake light- terming it as a replacement 'campaign'.

Ours was replaced under warranty, apparently they knew about the problem!

This is not a recall. Recalls are only done for safety things & all owners get postal invite to get work done. As said earlier thi is what is termed a 'campaign' & sbould be done as relevant vehicles go into dealer for regular work.

Had ours replaced at Carrs on Wednesday while it was in for a warranty replacement of the attic bendy light. The brake light was done even though the lens had been previously replaced under warranty.

Ours was replaced on our 2015 Cali last week during its first service

Yep - mine fell out on 2015 California Beach - so I stuck it back in. The bus had its first service today and they replaced the light unit under warranty - apparently it didn't just have a habit of falling out, but the lenses also separate from the reflector. Had mine done by Martins of Basingstoke. First service (minor) and next service (major) bundle at a great price of £399 plus VAT.

I was in for the first service and got mine replaced yesterday at VW van center Edinburgh.
I did ask but the guys already had it on the job card.
now replaced with a different unit.

We had our lens replaced about 6 months ago when the original fell off somewhere. Today I took our van in for service and was told they were doing a recall - on the tail light lens. I told them it was already done, but they said that was warranty and this was a recall and may have a different part number. So we have another new one!

(BTW £168 for the 2 year service, not bad :) )

I wonder if they'll replace mine, also replaced under warranty about 12 months ago. Booked in for 2nd service in 3 weeks time. I doubt if my service bill will be so low as it is the 2nd service, now 2 yrs old and 40,000 miles. DSG and Haldex oil changes + maybe brake pads as unless they can guarantee them for another 20,000 miles they will be changed as I have a few high milage European trips next year.:):)

Heritage wouldn't change mine last week, I had to pay. The campaign must be year specific.

Yes, I took my 63 plate to Vindis in Northampton for it's first service in Feb. 2015 and they charged me £35.88 for a new brakelight as it was missing (I hadn't noticed), and I didn't have the old one to show them the fault! On Friday I took the Cali to Brian Currie Milton Keynes for its first MOT and service, they told me about the recall and have replaced the lens (incidently they shattered the rear windscreen in the process so I had to wait for an extra day to get it back). VW Customer Care are now refusing to reimburse my £35.88 as I don't have the original faulty lens which fell out on the road somewhere and not conveniently on my drive. I have asked them to reconsider. Watch this space. Roger Seldon

Did you pay for the original replacement?

Had mine replaced under Warranty when I lost it on the M4. Van Centre wanted the old one so I told them they would have to look for it between J1 and J34 heading West. They did the replacement.

My Cali went into vw Wakefield today for its first service, can't believe it's been 2 years already. I noticed the words campaign on the check list and asked what it was, he told me that they have replaced the rear brake light, wouldn't have told me if I didn't ask. More worryingly is that they said there is an oil leak somewhere on the engine that needs investigating and have booked it in for 2 days next month.
