High pitched Whining noise

Does anybody know what the whining noise is when I come back to my van and open the drivers door, I was sat outside it with the side door open recently and I could hear this noise going on and off!
It seemed to be coming from under the bonnet/ front wheel arch!

It's something like your fuel pump preparing for departure when you unlock the vehicle. I was surprised too when I first heard it.

I think it's the fuel pump priming. I could be completely wrong but it seems that the vehicle thinks that whether you open the doors your going to set off. Doesn't appear to happen when I open the sliding door.

Agree - the vehicle is preparing itself. This happens on my Volvo XC40 as well. pretty soon they will order beer in for the fridge as well
