Holidays this year

Tim, Saw your Outer Hebrides post.
We've just arrived back (Glasgow) last night after a 2 weeks Barra to Stornaway trip. Wads of sunshine and cloudless skies but a serious bit of wind chill. Wads of shellfish too (even scallops pakora in Castlebay). If you get a chance, do the Anchorage, Stepping Stones, and Scarista house restaurants. If you spend any time in North Lewis do the North40 (or maybe 40North) deli open 12 til 7pm. Quite simply the best deli food I've ever tasted and also do RareBirds Design studio about 3 miles from 40North for innovative designs with lighter weight Harris Tweed (they even do Kindle and Iphone covers but their serious stuff is getting international acclaim (well, the Sundau Times Colour Supp).
Oh yes, standing stones, circles, BlackHouse villages and miles and miles and miles of white sand (broken down shells not silica) too.
Unfortunately on our way back from Stornaway to Ullapool, the Violent Storm Force 11 just south of Iceland translated to a Storm Force 8 on our route amd for 2 hours the Calmac Ferry was bounced all over the shop turning it into massive vomitorium. Fortunately for the last 90 mins it dropped to a pussy cat 6 and we all had a chance to recover.

Good luck and can't wait to get back up there.

Only saw one other Cali: a bright red one with no privacy glass (doesn't luck right ...)

ps A&E on Benbecula is excellent (and only 400m from Stepping Stones Restaurant :)

just finishing off Outer Hedrides and catching the ferry to Ullapool in the morning and then down the coast Gairlick Applecross Plockton Edinburgh to see family and then .... saw a cali in Stornaway this pm. Looked cleaner than mine!
