I was going to bite the bullet and buy some Brandrup second skins for my new Cali, but the club shop can’t supply the 2019 model rear cover. Looking at alternatives, I’ve seen some lovely looking Inka second skins. Dark grey with lighter striped inserts, I think they look better than the GTi covers and more practical than the Brandrup. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of love for them on here. Does anyone have any recent experience?

I have a VW Amorak V6 courtesy car at the moment, fitted with Inka type covers on the front seats, compared to the super second skins in the California they are slippery and sweaty, presumably OK for people who have wet dogs etc but for a long continental trip, nah.

They sound like the (much cheaper) Inka waterproof covers?

I’ve been eyeing those too. I think they look very decent and not Brandrup prices either. I contacted them and they do have all options available too (different headrest sizes, middle seat etc).

I just couldn’t find any covers that looked good enough to justify the outlay of £600+ for seat covers. I am tempted by those though.

A search on here talks about some quality issues a few years ago. If this was the case I can’t believe it wasn’t sorted out.

I spoke to Inka this morning, who were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. This is a brand new product launched this year. They seem very high quality and great value compared with the alternatives. I’ve decided to go with them, will post some pics up once fitted on the new van.

Good stuff. Be interested to see how you get on? I’d have thought any issues some time ago would have been long sorted. The danger of forums is that it only takes one bad experience to start a little rant-fest!

Indeed. The Inka waterproofs I previously had were excellent quality for what they were. Chatting to the chap there, he said they have made these to compete with Brandrup. I think they look more practical with the darker fabric in the exposed areas which will otherwise get grubby. We’ll see, but I’m looking forward to getting them. The 2 matching cushions are an added bonus, would have been another £100 spent in John Lewis otherwise!

I fitted some of these today. No tools required although lots of showing and swearing! Bought mine on eBay - didn’t come with instructions but didn’t seem to need them. No need to remove armrests with these and very tight fit. Am confident that they will last - time will tell.

Good to hear, thanks. Mine should arrive this week. What do you think of the overall quality, look and feel of them?

We've had Inca waterproof covers on our seven seat Beach since it left the dealers three and a half years ago. Believe me, with our sticky grand children, they have been utterly brilliant. Wet wipes normally sort any mess out instantly and keep them spick and span. However, we have just removed them for a proper clean. Mrs B did them by hand in cool water and then hung them out to drip dry. They are now back on and looking as good as new. The seats beneath are still as new as nothing spilt has been able to penetrate the covers. I dread to think what they would now look like without these waterproofs.
The waterproof Incas might not look as nice as the fabric covers but I suspect they are way more effective as protection especially if you have kids or dogs.

They are also very well made and are a wonderful fit.

A huge box has arrived with the second skins and 2 matching cushions. First impressions are excellent and they seem very high quality fabric and manufacturing. The colour scheme with the Ocean interior looks as though someone has given this a great deal of thought. I’ll get some pictures up once fitted and it’s stopped chucking down with rain!

A couple of pics of the second skins. Absolutely delighted with them. Easy to fit with no special tools required. Really nice feel and quality to them and of course, the darker edges shouldn’t get grubby. The insert (and cushion) colours tone really well with the Ocean cupboards and carpets (Brandrup Moonrock pictured). Great value compared with other options at £395 including cushions. Ordered mine directly from Inka.

These are the ones I bought. They do others so worth giving them a call. No VIP code but couldn’t find a better value alternative for the type and quality.

I had no instructions but had no problems, all very straightforward. I don’t recall the plate you refer to?

It's thin sheet running along the seat part of the rear cover so will be fitted up to the opening drawer under the seat !

Not with my Cali at the moment but I think it tucks underneath between the seat and the top of the drawer frame to keep the cover in place?

As above. Shove it between seat and drawer. It puzzled me too but it was was obvious once I tried.

Had to stop due to the rain, but been having a look and yes I think it slides between seat and drawer. Thanks for your help.

Where did you fit the loops with the velcro at the back of the seat part of the rear cover? There are about 5 of them
