Hey guys,

I have just bought a new cali ocean 4motion and I’m new to the VW world, what insurance company to go with. I have had a quote from caravan guard and comfort, similar price. Any recommendations

Also, what alarm and security have you fitted

Many thanks

Comfort Insurance and they should be able to tell you their requirements for alarm and tracker.
Unless VW have changed the alarm is a factory fit. You should be able to check the alarm’s “Thatcham rating” by going to the Thatcham website.
Comfort recommended a Scorpion Tracker when I insured with them.

Note….. my original post amended …. had a senior moment and said “Thetford” instead of Thatcham.

I am with Caravan Guard for third year running. Good premium, efficient call centre, no claims made to date so can’t comment on that key aspect.
They required a S5 alarm and tracker be fitted, so additional subscription costs £165pa, ouch, but I’d have done this anyway.

Thetford?
Are you sure you don't mean Thatcham?

We all have a myriad of insurers. Cost will greatly depend on your history, location and age, so we all have a slightly different outcome.

The Cali has one of the highest levels of Thatcham security already fitted and cannot be stolen without your key. So I use that and secure my key. Other opinions may also apply.

LV for me. They seem to know what a California actually is - surprisingly many insurers don’t. Also, for me the premium was good. No special alarm / tracker requirements.

I’m also with LV for the same reasons.
However, they do offer a free Nano Tracker at the moment.
There’s no monthly fee and it’s activated when reported stolen.
Since it was free I took up their offer.
