When filling up at a Tesco filling station recently - a bloke in a very smart 2017 Bentley shouted across the forecourt 'cool van mate' - im getting used to hearing nice comments like 'nice van' and 'love the colour' etc but didnt buy the van to win any coolness competitions, however, i am and starting to think my van is actually pretty cool - . Nobody ever complemented my new previous blue Audi A4 or black SMAX which in my mind were nice and practical, but too anonymous and probably not very cool. Is the Bentley bloke right and is a VW Beach a cool bit of kit - even in Yellow with 16" standard wheels ? - im starting to drive with my elbow sticking out the window and my foster grants on even on grey winter days - brr

What is cooler than a California Beach (with the windows open)

Only had mine 6 weeks but found loads of people admiring “Bert”. I too wear my shades whenever i can but keep the windows up so as not to annoy people with California Dreamin blasting out. Absolutely love it. Happy days.

They more than look the part and for sheer practicality, there surely can’t be many better vehicles out there.

Charles Porche might be able to do 0-60 in 4 seconds but how often can he do it.
Henry’s Range Rover might be able to tackle a 60 degree gradient but he wouldn’t dare risk damaging his pride and joy.

What I do know is, until I owned a Cali I’d glance across at the likes of Charles and Henry and think “pillock” but feel slightly inferior in my run of the mill motor.
Now I glance across and think “ your motor is absolutely pointless and sh!te compared to mine”

I didn’t but my Cali for that reason obviously but I must say, it’s a nice bonus

It's weird I sell nearly new Range Rovers and Discovery 4 and drive them personally but I get in the Cali and i feel like a child on Xmas morning....

That never fades :) I love the Cali/Tesla combo; people are always asking questions about both

Yes. But have you got built in coat hooks.

Entering the van/cali/grey: Always got the feeling like heading for holidays, adventures or expeditions. And always with a smile and joy in my eyes. Even if I am just driving for groceries.

When we got Zebedee we were in traffic on the SouthCircular and the guy in the Ferrari next to rolled down his window to admire young Zebedee the Cali....result.

Although Smartie the Smart Car For Four has also had people stop me at the petrol station to admire him! (Not any more he seriously needs a wash). He is in stealth mode...ie no outrageous graphics. But as GJ said Zebedee is more tricky to drive in London.

PS picture of the Beetle makes me nostalgic for 1983, mine was even the same colour but failed its MOT spectacularly!

Whatever the situation, weather, mood etc my wife and I get an immediate natural high when getting into our Cali'!

Our other vehicle is a 1932 Ford Victoria Hotrod which is also very good for making you feel glad to be alive!

Cheers

Despite loving my Beach, I think my last van was definitely cooler - to look at at least - it certainly got more waves per mile travelled!!
