It's finally happened!

Dent repair guys can probably do that for a surprisingly small amount, but sadly difficult as the moment was missed.

I'd still be tempted to mention to them that you're having it fixed, let them know you saw even if you dont ask them to pay for it.

I dread to think how much...

Definitely worth considering a smart repair, although the crease might make it tricky, we had a sizeable dent smart repaired and it was completely invisible. About £100 from memory.

I couldn't live with it I'd have to get it done. Up to around £250, more than that I'd live with it.

Vw... £1000?
Independent ...... £250?
Independent was £250 - £260 so top marks.

So it looks I've got a bargain. Mind you, I can think of a good many things I'd rather spend £500 on so I think I'll try one of those dent companies instead.

I asked the school to message all parents asking them to take more care and assist their children in and out of vehicles. Predictably I received the answer, " as it's outside of the school gates it is not a school matter".

If only all the little fat kids would walk to school eh.

I was imagining that Vw would have to strip down the interior
of the tailgate to knock it out, then respray the back end and blend
it in on the rear panels and then remove the kitchen.
Forgot that you only have the people carrier version :D:D:D

Don’t all these measures put in place to protect us from terrorism, actually slowly erode our freedom? The probability is very low although the consequence is very high.

A bloke gets his van dented and next thing all the kids are dying in a terrorist attack! Only this forum goes to the far end of a fart with these things.

Leave off the kitchen and you've nailed it. If it had been an Ocean it would have been a write off.:thumb

Yep that's us. The dent's still there though.

Annoying: You may find a good independent (not franchised) proper paintless dent removal (PDR) specialist that could do that in your area: just google it. They worked abs wonders on our sliding door.

Unfortunately the child did a proper job by removing a small amount of paint as well and it is almost impossible to match metalic paint with a touch up. So if I decide to have it done properly it will involve:

1. Remove number plate and holder.
2. Remove the door card/zip up storage for the picnic chairs. Tricky job.
3. Remove the rear door handle and rubber gasket.
4. Remove dent.
5. Fill and prepare.
6. Repaint the lower half of the rear door.
7. Re-assemble.

It will also result in the loss of several days vehicle use and culminate in a considerable loss of weight in the wallet department.

Postpone decision a few months and see if you still can’t live with it! Unless you are very lucky you are bound to collect a few more dings a scratches!
I managed to put a surface scratch on my wing within days of getting the Cali and had a week or so feeling it was a disaster.... now I don’t even notice it. Stone chips on the bonnet are my current obsession!

Your probably right.

If only the young scallywag had been a bit more considerate with his/her positioning and I could have stuck a sticker over it. Unfortunately a cheap dent repair won't fix it and my eyes are drawn to it every time I go near the van.

You might be surprised, our sizeable dent was on a metallic vehicle and it was (to my eyes anyway) a perfect match.

Could be a good compromise. Cheaper option, possibly imperfect, but better than the ding?
