We just did our first “tour de France” with our T5.1 and the Kenwood 8170 I fitted myself before leaving has proven itself worthy
. Perfect sound and navigation from the built in Garmin or the IPhone.
But I am missing two things (there is always a but)
One is the buttons on the steering wheel. For this solution I have found some answers on this forum regarding retrofitting them. Seems doable with the leather steering wheel.
Th second thing I am looking into is if the Kenwood can display it’s NAV directions onto the VW MFD in the dashboard cluster.
The Cali came without NAV radio from the factory so I suspect the VCDS isn’t coded for this.
I have the Kenwood Can bus interface which is working smoothly for the aircon and backup sensors but is there anybody who can confirm that it is actually possible?
