Locking tailgate from inside

Anyone know if the tailgate can be locked manually from the inside. This is an overnight quick fix as my battery has died and the central locking system is not working. I can lock the driver, passenger and sliding door but not the tailgate! Any ideas welcome

You can lock the tailgate with the key on the outside.

I have a T5 2012 TDI 4 Motion and there is no key hole on the outside. I did check this before posting and have double checked since.
