Seems that Mercedes have now put on Hold deliveries of new Marco Polos. As with the hold on T6 California’s earlier in the year it is apparently due to Certification for Emissions.

Mercedes and every manufacturer are having major problems in meeting the new test standards. How it will play out will be interesting. As for electric vehicles they will also have issues when the true level of their lifetime pollution and surge pricing for charging rears its ugly head. Enjoy your California while you can. I intend doing just that.:Stig

MP's have been on hold for a few weeks.

I think VW was just the first in a long queue of manufacturers admitting difficulties meeting the new certifications, no doubt motivated by the need to avoid running the corporate HQ from the inside of a slammer :shocked

F8536C4F-8B5F-4B98-81CB-DD77CC01ED4F.png Stumbled upon this for sale, did someone ditch it for a Cali after 900miles!?

Maybe. One owner had a problem with the Bed not working despite the Dealership and MB Technical being involved and so handed it back. Another had smoke coming from the Bed electrics.

Happens to plenty of Cali owners as well, some get one without trying first and realise campervans are not for them. The dream of campers and the reality can be different after all.

A bit of a tangent, but interestingly, the Marco Polo has just appeared on the Mercedes Employee car scheme at £350 a month, based on 12,000 miles per year! Must say, if we didn't have Super Heiney, I would be very tempted to give that a blast!

I’m not sure if they are a MP dealer, I wondered how much that cost new.

I know I am looking through California tinted glasses, but have yet to spot a MP on the road in the last 18 months . Are they selling ? Am I travelling in the ‘wrong ‘ areas ?!

A family at the end of my street own one, it’s in white and other than the Donald Trump-esqe syrup / pop top, it’s a nice looking vehicle and I’d say less camper looking than my T6.

I saw quite a few in Cornwall last week, it is actually growing on me, looks much more sporty compared to the Cali if you like that sort of thing. I also read the other forum http://marcopoloownersclub.com/index.php there always appears to be people ordering and collecting them.

Hopefully this won't turn into another thread of people sagging it off, I for one think it's great that Volkswagen finally have some competition in the UK and I expect the owners are all very similar to ourselves on here.

Seen several out and about looks very long to me.

I've yet to see one and I live in Devon so a bit surprised. Didn't see one on our recent holiday in Cornwall either.
I do like them I must admit, it's just a shame about the deck chairs and table.

They are still rare. The first year build quantity in RHD was only 100 units I believe.

There is a steady trickle of new buyers appearing on the sister forum so it is selling, not in enough quantities though to be a serious rival to the RHD cali.

I have seen a few around locally and also in Dorset recently but I have not come across one on a campsite yet. I think they do look good but without wanting to sound Tribal I think the Cali has the edge.

I think the MP will improve a lot when MB release a new / updated model and VW will have to up their game aswell or fall behind.

I've seen one and it did look nice, very different look in comparison to a Cali, a little smaller looking even if not actually smaller? I prefer the look of the VWs but I am a VW fan and think every version has its character.

It will take time to grow the community but I'm sure it will happen. Competition for VW is really good for us cali owners in future too.

It's affecting a lot of manufacturers.

We've recently got a brand new MINI JCW Convertible. It was the only one built that could be registered in the colour we wanted. We weren't allowed to do a factory order because MINI have closed the orderbooks for 12 months or so on all JCW models because of the emissions testing

Yes its affecting a lot of manufacturers. Including (eg) Volvo, currently quoting Jan deliveries on XC40s.
