Just done a brim to brim fill up in my 2.5tdi and worked out at 39 MPG. That's 2 long trips, fully loaded with lots of start stop traffic. Astonished that a 17 year old van, loaded to the gunnels, can be that economical. Happy days

Yep! Even with my aerodynamics and weight of an ice cream van, I get around 38 to the gallon, measured properly brim to brim (not via t5/6 computer...).

Oh, and it doesn't improve its figures by burning any engine oil!

Impressive indeed. I got 48mpg brim to brim on a recent long run at just under 60mph in my 204DSG. But as soon as I put my foot down a bit it falls off quickly to about 40mpg.

I got over 100mpg once but once the butler got tired pushing it so I had to start the engine and that ruined everything

No, the poor man was exhausted from driving my Rolls.
