Hi, we are looking to do the NC500 in early February, is this a bad idea in regards to weather ?

the microclimates round the N500 are all quite different so you're unlikely to get consistent weather all the way round. also relatively unpredictable even using the reliable met office forecasts. simply be prepared for wind and rain because you'll get it somewhere.
we've only been round it once in the early 70s before it was invented. we return often but only the west side and a bit of the northwest. the east side is less interesting imho.
small cafes, coffee shops and overnight sites will be shut early feb.
good luck

a bit urban i know but if stopping off in inverness try the rocpool restaurant (not the hotel) which is stellar but expensive

Probably the worst time of year for wintery weather, but can be good for the odd clear day and quiet roads. The NC roads are close to the coast which keeps them clear of the worst snow if there is any.
