Official announced by The Keukenhof: don't come with eastern. You can't park, it will be full. The small roads to the park will be jammed with the tourists who thought that it would be a great idea to visit the site.

We got there at 9 on Friday it wasn’t to bad. However by lunchtime and early afternoon the place was a zoo.
We left about 1:30 because of the madness.
Our recommendation. If you go, go first thing or don’t bother.
Incredible gardens, worth visiting...

Visit the region of Alkmaar and above, you will find a nice old centre and shopping centre in Alkmaar itself, all the bulbs you can photograph (with respect to the owner) up north (half an hour drive), dunes and beaches within half an hour, Amsterdam in 35 minutes (train or Cali), woods (Schoorl), one of the biggest lakes (IJsselmeer) and other waterworks all within an hours drive.
Also the "polders" (1600-1700 waterworks) and the Beemster polder (world heritage) are even on a bicycle nearby.

If you've gone across the channel, then just mozie up the coast. We had a few days around Cadzand. You can cycle to Knokke Heist and north along the coast to Breskens. Great seafood restaurant by the harbour. The beaches are fantastic with strand pavilionen every couple of miles. Strand pavilioenen are basically bars on the beach - very tempting...

Do take a bike or rent one though.

Cheers Bramco.
We stayed our last night at Cadzand. Looks to be a very up and coming place. Wizzed through Sluis to, very nice place.
Stayed at a campsite called Wulpen. Absolutely brilliant.
Might head to this area next Easter as we didn’t get enough time to see and cycle it all.

Big thanks to all those recommendations. We loved Noordwijk area and the cycling infrastructure in Holland is incredible.
Will definitely be heading back soon.

:thanks

Off on our first visit to The Netherlands over the Easter break. Doing a bit of research - anybody got places of interest worth visiting, recommended areas, campsites, walks, bike rides, etc. All info gratefully received.
Really looking forward to it. Love our Easter tours!

What a great trip! Really enjoyed every aspect.
Arrived at Hook of Holland on Stena Line ferry from Harwich - could not fault it. In fact booked my return on ferry over - great service.
We wanted to see The Netherlands so opted for a minimum of two night stays on campsites on our route.
1. Camping Duinhorst - just outside The Hague (Schevengingen) only a few kilometres from centre centre and coast. Great edge of town site.
2. Camping de Nolen - through the tulip fields and up the coast to a small village north of Alkmaar (Callantsoog). From here fantastic coastal cycle ride up to Den Helder. The beaches on the coast were lovely with golden sands.
3. We then crossed the dam ‘Afsluitdijk’ at the north of Holland to head south of Groningen to a beautiful campsite Camping Norgerborg in Norg. Just an overnight stay here as we wanted to head south.
4. We made our way to the Nationale Park De Hoge Veluwe and stayed at Camping De Pampel in Hoenderloo. A fantastic village in amongst forests and inland dunes. We decided to stay 4 nights - special deal over Easter. Here we endulged in our love of the outdoors taking to hikes or bike rides. Brilliant.
We are on our way back now having had a great break. People lovely, food great, sites amongst the best we have stayed in and will certainly return one day. All helped by the weather being about 24 degrees daily!
If you fancy it give it go you won’t regret it.
Aztec.

Lovely area.
Agree with cycling infrastructure - got to be seen to be believed. Could go on a long day bike rides without a hill in sight. Bliss coming from Wales!

So far forward with their infrastructure. Must work well and also noticed nobody wore a cycling helmet...
I am so envious of their system.
