Ocean 204 4motion has Landed today!

New Cali arrived at Dealer this afternoon and after one year to the day after order we will collect this Saturday - exciting stuff.
Had to raid the Piggy bank this evening!
Congrats and Safari Njema!

Here She is !
Collected yesterday from Marshalls in Reading, couldn't have had a better handover, 3 hrs with John who went through every aspect of the Cali and nothing was too much trouble - he even came in on his day off to facilitate - probably the best handover I've had from any car I've bought during the 58 years I've been on this earth! :)
We are really pleased with the vehicle, managed to drive her home before it rained and now need to plan our first adventure. We would have preferred to have delayed until spring 2023 but VW have recently stipulated when it arrives it must be collected so it is what it is and we can enjoy straight away - I even checked with VW customer service and its correct so out of dealer's hands.
At least all those rumours around the possibility of having to make up the price increases whilst waiting over the last year have been dispelled, not even mentioned once by the dealer, so it looks like VW decided to honour their prices at point of order after all.
For those still waiting, believe me it's all worth it on collection day, even at the high price tag.
Ironically, we ordered on 26/11/21 and collected exactly a year later on 26/11/22. Now I think now we are moving towards much shorter lead times and have turned a corner which has to be good news for everyone :)

For awareness for others, the information we have is that VW UK strictly enforce a maximum period of 14 days between arrival at the UK port of entry and registration and hand over to the customer. If not, the dealer must register it themselves, and run for a 6 month period.. We asked for ours to be delayed 3 weeks to get to the next registration year number, but it was a big NO in return. I believe the same is true for cars in the UK. From other posts, VW dealers in Europe don’t necessarily have the same handcuffs on them.

Glad it’s all worked for you though.

Similar story to ours and Ive found out its a £5000 fine for them...a 23 plate would have been nice but it is what it is and Ive just decided to enjoy the van...lifes too short :)

no handcuffs here in Belgium apparently. my dealer seemed fine with me picking mine up at any point until the agreed date in may, even though it will probably arrive in january.

That’s what I’ve heard about VW EU dealers - not so smiley happy people here !

You can cheer yourselves up with lower insurance premiums and MUCH cheaper extended factory warranties. I know what I would prefer.

indeed. swings and roundabouts. i would love some of that lovely cheap insurance. (almost no road tax or registration tax here in Belgium at least.)

man, i would love that extended warranty.

Overall the level of service here is woeful though, compared to the uk.
