Oil wet bottom plate

My vw California T6 ocean 4M is leaking oil, so the bottom plate is wet especially in the left side. What is the most likely fault an how to diagnose

Have you had a service recently?

Left side as you stand i front of the Van looking at the engine bay or left hand side when you're sitting In The driver seat ?
 
Left side when I am sitting in the driver seat. Ik

You didn't confirm if the van has been serviced recently? Or any other work, in tge absence of any specific details, photos etc it's pretty hard to begin.

possible Crank case seal - very common both end of the Block
DSG Gearbox leak
DSG drain plug(s)
Sump bolt
Oil filter - usually wrong torq allow some blow by
Oil tracking from oil loss in another another part of the engine

If there is a lot of oil I would suggest you get it checked out ASAP and font drive it on long journeys.

any garage shoukd be able to put tge van on a lift and have a good look to identify to most likely culprit.

Thanks a lot for Your reply. My mechanic found that rust has caused a leak in a ca. 8cm Ø round plate in the gearbox (se picture)
