Put order in for a new Beach yesterday so going through the dealer paperwork to make sure everything is spec’d properly prior to build. We want the Parking Heater but wanted the ‘cheaper’ option without the remote control but looks like dealership have put the more expensive one on the order. Before we go chasing to amend it is there any difference between the 2 options other than the more expensive is remote controlled?

Both options have two heaters:
  1. a parking heater
  2. a coolant heater
The first can be operated by an overhead control panel or an optional radio remote control.

If you have the remote control you can turn the parking heater on or off from the comfort of your bed, but you can do this also if you are sleeping in the upper berth by reaching forward to the control panel.

On a cold morning at home you can heat and defrost the Cali with the parking heater by using the remote control before you have your eggy soldiers for breakfast. When you step into your car fifteen minutes later it will be toasty warm and no need to scrape the windscreen with your Nectar Card. The remote control is very expensive (~£250 less any discount your dealer has agreed.)

If your treating yourself to a beach with a heater, might as well go thr thr whoke hog and have the remote, only about £280 more. Nice and toasty before toy even get in it :thumb

Getting up at 03:00 on a cold morning and turning on the heater on at the same time as the kettle from my first floor flat with the remote is one of the many joys of having a California!

Totally agree with comments above. If you can afford the extra you will not regret it. Both for ease of heating control in the van and for warming it up / defrosting from comfort of home.
Apparently it also works from a distance so if you’re away on a hike when camping, or at a nearby pub for dinner, you can get the heater going and the van warm before you get back.

Under what conditions does the Webasto coolant heater become operational?
