I thought the max payload of vw ts is 3.2t, so not sure a cali can be higher.
My joker is built on 3.2t chassis

Probably used a T32 as the base vehicle rather than the T30 that the California is based on.

I think you could be correct Cali is based on an overweight T30 and rated at 3080kg
Sounds like using a T32 with its different suspension is a possibility.

Bit of semi useless info unless anyone with 18" wheels with no spare is wondering.

17" alloy wheel with 235/55 tyre weighs in at circa 27kgs. Not counting the carrier rack.

Not useless at all, I purchased a spare and was wondering about the weight, I have been in construction for 46 years and just retired but boy that spare feels heavy, I bought the rack to hold it but for now I have decided to just put in the boot so if I need it I can get it quickly. Most or our trips are max 3 days ATM ( elderly cat fed by our neighbour so we don’t like leaving him too long on his own) so we don’t need that much stuff so space isn’t that much of an Issue.
