Does anyone know definitively what the payload is on a T7 California Ocean hybrid? For camping use it will just be my wife and I. However, two or three times a year it will be family transport to an apartment in the Alps taking my wife and I, two adult size teens and a dog. Total weight maybe 320kgs. I am sure I read somewhere that payload on the hybrid is under 300kgs. If that’s true I do wonder if its a no go for us and we might have to get a diesel.

about 100kg less than non Phev
only looked at the Ocean as that should be worst case

In case it is not obvious click on the info on the engine selection and look under weights.

For some reason the uk site is showing up with blanks at the moment but on the German site you can work out the payload from the weights in the engine spec for the Phev. https://www.volkswagen-nutzfahrzeug...MVBK1T9&modelVersion-app=0&modelYear-app=2026

2980kg total permissible weight
2650kg with driver (75kg and full fuel tank)
leaves 330kg payload as far as I can see

That might be just enough. I’m 85kgs so I use up 10kgs leaving 320kgs. My son is also 85kgs, daughter 65kgs and my wife 58kgs, dog is 20kgs so after that we are left with 92kgs for luggage, snacks etc. Hopefully that’s enough but it’s still feels a bit tight.

I must say this does seem like quite close if a family with two adults and two teenagers set off for a trip with a full water tank and all the gubbins you’d need for a week away (drive off awning, toilet, food etc etc). I’m not super clear on this but won’t the full water tank eat 30kg straight away?
